The low temperature gas soft nitriding method independently developed by our company has less strain deformation and less pollution. Like carburizing, we provide services at production sites in Japan and abroad.
Soft nitriding is also known as nitrocarburizing or ferritic nitrocarburizing. It is a chemical surface heat treatment process in which nitrogen and carbon atoms are simultaneously infiltrated into the steel surface at 500~580 °C. Nitriding is mainly used, with a small amount of carbon infiltrated. According to the state of the co-permeable medium, it is divided into three categories: solid, liquid and gas. The gas method is easy to realize mechanization and automation, and the processing quality is stable, but the equipment is more complicated and suitable for mass production.
Soft nitriding has the following characteristics:
(1) The co-infiltration temperature is low, the time is short, and the deformation of the workpiece is small.
(2) The process is not limited by steel types, carbon steel, low alloy steel, tool steel, stainless steel, cast iron and iron-based powder metallurgy materials can all be nitrocarburized. The surface hardness of the workpiece after soft nitriding is related to the nitriding process and material.
(3) It can significantly improve the fatigue limit, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the workpiece. It also has properties such as anti-galling and anti-seize under dry friction conditions.
(4) Since there is no brittle ξ phase in the nitrocarburized layer, the nitrided layer is hard and has a certain toughness, and is not easy to peel off. Therefore, soft nitriding has been widely used in the treatment of wear-resistant workpieces such as molds, measuring tools, high-speed steel tools, crankshafts, gears, and cylinder liners.
